The Arc’teryx Men’s Beta AR Pant is a waterproof pant that is lightweight and packable for all four seasons. The three quarter length zipper provides easy on and off while still wearing your boots, while still being WaterTight. Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric keeps you dry in whatever type of nasty weather is thrown your way. The knees, seat, and lower legs are reinforced for the bumps on the mountain or muddy trail. Gusseted crotch provides all day comfort and ease of movement. My favorite is the instep patches, simple protection against boots, crampons, and the like.

ARC'TERYX ATHLETIC FIT: The Arc'teryx Athletic Fit garments are considered their "standard" fit and feature complex patterns that utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion and eliminate any excess bulk. Athletic fit styles are trimmer than Arc'teryx relaxed fit styles, but still offer room for a base layer, a light fleece mid-layer, and a synthetic or down filled mid-layer. Put simply, their Athletic Fit should fit true to size, but be sure to check out the size guide to learn how to calculate your body measurements before selecting a size.

Was looking for a bombproof, waterproof and relatively lighweight shell pant for backcountry skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking. Have used them just twice so far backcountry skiing and they are great. Only negative is that like all hardshells, they are a little noisy at times.
"If your in the market, spend the dough and get em"
If your reading this then your interested enough in buying a new pair of hard shell pants. Buy them. While no one article of anything can really do it all, these come pretty close. They work well in both summer and winter storms. They are what any adventurer wants in a hard shell. Light functional and mountain proof. Legs zip all the way up and are sealed. They have an internal gator which i like and are reinforced around the lower legs to protect from crampon snagging. I guess one drawback if any is that they are a little swishy when you move but nothing bothersome.
These pants are simply amazing! I have used them for hiking, backpacking, ice climbing, mountaineering, and snowboarding and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The 3/4 zip is essential when the weather changes and you need to get your pants on quickly when wearing mountaineering boots and/or crampons. The reinforced instep has prevented damage from hiking boots and crampons on multiple occasions. Another great feature that may not seem like a big deal is that the pants can zip from either the top or the bottom. This is a great feature because you can zip them part of the way down from the top to dump extra heat. Overall, these are by far the best all-around hardshell pants for multi-sport activities and even everyday wear as a rain-shell.
From scale of 1 to 5 Moose, It gets 5 Moose. Very durable pants, excellent quality. They are lightweight, waterproof, breathable and scratch resistant. Perfect fit and complete freedom for moving around. Downside is of course the price.
I'm 6'0 and 185lbs and the large/regular fits perfect. Typical Arcteryx quality, durable, breathable and not bad looking. I was looking for an all around XC ski, sledding, maybe snowboarding, snowshoeing she'll that can take some abuse, and this is it. Nice pant.
