The Arc'teryx Men's Gamma MX Jacket is, in my incredibly biased opinion, one of the best soft shells on the market. My bias comes from the fact that everything Arc'teryx puts out is of the highest quality and from my few years owning a Gamma MX jacket. This versatile soft shell mid-layer utilizes Arc'teryx's Fortius 2.0 fabric to achieve the perfect balance of mobility, style and elemental protection. I bought it for the style; the fact that it sheds rain, blocks wind and is super warm are just bonuses (bonuses that come in handy in inclement weather). Whatever your needs, this jacket will suit them.

I upgraded to this from my old Marmot Gravity softshell. All I can say is, wow! I thought my old one was good, but this thing is pretty amazing! It is everything that you would expect from Arc'teryx. The fit is fantastic. I am pretty skinny and it is hard for me to find jackets that fit well, but this one is absolutely spot on. Definitely designed for an athletic build. My only gripes with this jacket are that the neck is a little wide for everyday use, but it does fold down nicely into a collar. The sleeves also don't have any Velcro, which can make them hard to get over a watch, but one you do, they fit really nicely. The shell fabric is top notch. Stretchy to allow for movement, but with a really nice hand, and quite breathable. The DWR works really well too; sheds light rain quite well. The fleece lining is pretty thin, but it is the perfect weight for 4-season wear in California. Just as versatile in the city as in the woods. Pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for!
I am a big fan of softshells due to their breathability and this is the highest quality softshell in existence. The seams, zippers, construction, and fabric is all cearly top notch and it couldnt' fit any better. It looks tailored and professional regardless of if you are a dirtbag or not. The gamma is excellent and while most of my other gear has a place and climate of use, this is the jacket that spans them all and is the most versatile.
This is an awesome jacket. Arc'teryx really got this one right. Perfect weight for Fall and Spring, and even wore through the winter with a base layer. Well made, expect to last. I have already worn it for a year, washed it once, and it looks new.
This is a great jacket, wind resistant, somewhat water resistant too,(big plus). I wear it climbing and snowshoeing, contoured for your elbows, no restriction. Wear it with a midweight baselayer, (Smartwool, Icebreaker or Arcteryx). Pockets are easy to get into one handed too. Nice lining too, kinda like fleece. I throw a hard shell on when I stop or a puffy coat. BUY ONE YOU WON"T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!
It's truly not often finding both a service friendly jacket and a good looking garment. First spending over $300 clams w/tax was kind of hard for a jacket even though I had the cash on hand to do so. I found it feels a lot like fleece both inside and out but the serviceability is nothing like fleece or even the look is not like a cheap fleece coat its just really soft like fleece is about it. It is somewhat wind stoppable, I say somewhat because it doesn't stop the wind like say Gore-Tex but its not real far away from it. My recommendation is Heck yes you should give it a try like I did and it sold me the first day of wearing it on a 32 degree day with nothing more than a light #150 of Ice Breaker which is quit comfortable combo. No I work for neither Moosejaw or Arcteryx this is a real review oh and "Yes" this is a word in the Urban Dictionary...Fantastarastic
