ARC'TERYX NEXT to SKIN FIT: These snug-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin and enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Arc'teryx next to skin fit pieces constructed with their heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, so you should consider sizing up to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this as a mid layer option if you are building a layering system. Also check out the size guide to learn how to calculate your body measurements before selecting a size.

"Perfect for basecampjng, low output activities, and sleeping in."
Because of the price tag and the warmth of this jacket, I only carry one or sometimes at most two on my backpacking trip. I use this as an outfit for when I settle in my tent and sleeping in as well. When I am back on my foot, I swap this for a lighter Patagonia Capilene 1.The RHO jacket fits your snug next to your skin, but surprisingly you don't feel the compressiveness of this thermal. I am 176 cm, Male, 71 Kg, ordered a size S. I might go for size M if I'm 75-76 Kg.Pro Tip: When ordering two of these, make sure you get a different colour. Trust me. Life will be much easier when you don't have to smell them to figure out which one you have been wearing for the past few days. Differentiating colours will allow for better organisation. Better yet, get a different color than your trekking partner if you are bound to mix them together.
"Super comfortable, warm, long and nicely adjustable to vent with zip."
I got this for cooler weather mtn biking here in SoCal. I know, cool to us is 45F and super cold is 35F. I absolutely love this for several reasons. It is extremely comfortable and feels like fleece on the inside. The body is long and has a drop tail so it stays down and doesn't show plumber's crack when I ride and the arms are long enough for me which says a lot as I am 6'5" with a long torso and arms and have a hard time in this area. With the collared zip neck I find it easy to zip up to start the ride and then drop the zip as the hills get me warmed up on those cold morning rides. I have a similar model without the zip and collar but this one is more versatile. I do buy these one size larger than my normal Arcteryx size as I am not after the cling wrap fit, it is definitely not baggy one size up, just a nice fit. I look forward to using it for winter snow hiking where the temps will be even lower.
Just received the RHO in Oxblood. Color is spot on as I did not want a true red to highlight this great product in in public. Product is form fitting and much warmer than I thought. Was going to use a base layer under the RHO, but does not require/need one. Sleeves are a bit long but are tapered at the end. Overall, another great Arcteryx product
Recently I bought this for some future cold weather hikes we have planned. Got to try it out this weekend in 34 degree (probably colder) and rain. Like a BOSS I only had a 40 degree bag, since the low was only supposed to be 40 degrees. I would have been freezing if it wasn't for this shirt. It kept me toasty warm the entire hike, night, and morning after. I love it and really look forward to using it for our upcoming whitney and mammoth trips this summer. Well worth the money and my girlfriend says I look super hot in it. So that alone makes it worth it. Plus I noticed a few envious looks along the trail and even got a couple complements. In all seriousness this is hands down the best trail base layer Ive ever owned. Im 6ft 185 with broad shoulders and the Large fits me perfectly.
I chose this as a base layer and mid layer. Around the house I wear it when the wood stove isn't cranked up and to bed to stay warm. It fits snug all the way around and has a zippered neck which I can crank down when I get warm.I primarily bought this as a back packing top but I think only on cooler days will I be wearing this. I am going to keep it for around camp and sleeping. My patagonia cap 2's are going to be my hiking top. I will use this in lieu of a capilene 3 or 4 top. With a fleece and shell over this I am quite warm. I hope this review helps you and I would buy this product again just to get it in a different color. I bought it in yellow and the dirt/pizza stains show. I am going to opt for a darker color if I am going to be wearing this on a thru hike of the AT.
