The Arcteryx Men's Theta AR Jacket is a favorite among Moosejaw employees and seasoned veterans alike. I'm not trying to say we're not season veterans, some of us are. I'm just saying that Steven in accounting loves his Theta AR for rain protection from his car to the office, whereas J.T. fully utilizes his for backcountry skiing. Fully featured with GORE-TEX® Pro Shell, pit zips, anatomical shaping, pack pockets, taped seams and tons of other features, this all-around technical mountain shell will handle whatever you throw at it.
Moosejaw Staff Pick "The Arcteryx Men's Theta AR Jacket is totally awesome, you guys. The Theta AR makes a great rain jacket in the spring, and an even better hardshell in the winter when you learn how to layer properly. Plus, you get to look like a total pro when everyone else around you is wearing boring jackets." Matt - Moosejaw Secret Headquarters

ARC'TERYX ATHLETIC FIT: The Arc'teryx Athletic Fit garments are considered their "standard" fit and feature complex patterns that utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion and eliminate any excess bulk. Athletic fit styles are trimmer than Arc'teryx relaxed fit styles, but still offer room for a base layer, a light fleece mid-layer, and a synthetic or down filled mid-layer. Put simply, their Athletic Fit should fit true to size, but be sure to check out the size guide to learn how to calculate your body measurements before selecting a size.

This was the first Arcteryx product I finally decided to get after reading reviews on jackets for a year or so. It is an amazing jacket. It is very versatile. I have used it backpacking and I also use it as a winter shell. Whenever it rains, I have to run outside now with this jacket on. I have used it for about a year now and it shows no signs of wear.
"Great jacket, let down only by noisy fabric"
The Theta is noisy. It rustles with every move – think cheap plastic raincoat! I guess this isn’t a problem in the wilderness; in fact, it’ll probably keep bears at bay, if bears are a problem in your neck of the woods, although where I live there are only Koala Bears, which aren’t known for their savagery. But forget about sneaking up on wildlife in this jacket – save that for the NeoShell, or Event even. I don’t know why Arcteryx chose this outer fabric – maybe it’s bullet proof, but I have everything from U.S. army Gore-Tex, to the latest Polartec NeoShell and nothing rustles like this. And it is the outer fabric we are talking about – the Gore-Tex is only a membrane sandwiched between fabrics. Now, with the noisy fabric issue out of the way, what do I like about this jacket? Everything else! The quality is top notch. The design is spot on and I love the long cut. It looks stylish and has loads of pockets. If it wasn’t for the noisy fabric I would award it 10/10.
The main reason I bought this jacket is because of it's versatility. I have used it for hiking, backpacking, ice climbing, mountaineering, and snowboarding and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The extra length on the Theta is great as it covers your butt and the jacket is reinforced with the heavier Gore-tex in key wear areas like the butt, shoulders, hips, and elbows. I think the Theta is the #1 best all-around jacket for multi-sport activities and even everyday wear as a rain-shell. As for fit, I am 6'4" 215lbs, athletically built, and I bought a large. The jacket does run a little big, but the large is perfect for throwing over my base and mid layers.
Hola,I've had this jacket for about a year so far and I absolutely love the performance and look of the theta AR. I use this hard shell for every season in the Colorado Rockies, from summer trekking to powder days at Vail. This jacket is the most versatile weapon in my arsenal, there nothing this jacket can't do. I feel that the breath ability has improved drastically over the years, it doesn't breath as good as a Neoshell, but it's pretty dam close. The only time I don't use the jacket is when its over 65 degrees. The jacket is tailored more towards a taller athletic build and the sizing runs about normal. If your looking for a versatile jacket that will also look good around town, then the Arcteryx Theta Ar is your main choice.sizing6'4200lbTheta AR XL
Well where do I begin. First off the fit is quite large. I am 6'2" 200lbs and I am wearing the medium in this. I can easily layer under it as well. I have used this jacket for 20 degree (Canadian Celsius ehh) rainstorms backpacking, -40 layered up snowshoeing, and everything in between. Breathes perfectly and always stays dry. Longer length is great it does not ride up your back with a pack on like some others do. Comes about half way down my as*. HUGE pit zips when needed. Articulated hood is great and can adjust to fit head and helmet no problem. I will buy this jacket over and over again! Arcteryx is amazing to deal with and the fit is perfect.
