The Arc'teryx Women's Beta SL Jacket is an emergency rain jacket for hiking and backpacking. If you're going for a hike and the weather is unstable, or looking to lighten your load, the Beta SL is up to the challenge. The SL stands for super lightweight, to provide you with protection in unexpected rain or snow. The jacket packs down nice and small, taking up less space in your pack until you need it. The Gore-Tex PacLite sheds the wet stuff and blocks wind as well. A durable water repellent finish allows water to bead up on the surface and roll off, without soaking in. The trim fit prevents fabric from flapping in the breeze and pockets are set high, staying out of the way of your hipbelt while remaining usable. Tuck a trail snack into your pocket and rack up the miles.

This jacket came in just in time for monsoon season where I was guiding this summer. Instead of just surviving I was singing in the rain! The Beta SL Jacket is packable and light, so I never hesitate to throw it in a day pack, but also durable and totally reliable. Water beads up on this shell, yet it still breathes well enough to hike in it for hours. And to top it all of, it looks sharp. It is well cut for women and I love wearing it in public!
THIS was my first ever Arc'teryx product and it will always be my favorite. It's a super lightweight completely waterproof jacket that I don't suffer for wearing when it's summer and rainy here in south Texas. And I wear it ALL THE TIME, even did today. It's fitted and flattering alone, BUT I've been able to layer it on top of AND underneath other jackets when I've been outside training in the cold and rain (it's not training if it's not raining). I am a firearms student and I've never had ANY issue with the underarms being restrictive to my movements, so it's my FAVORITE GO TO jacket for rain, though I do have others. I love the way you can adjust the hood so it doesn't hang down in your face and the way the sleeves can be tightened down so rain doesn't get in and they don't interfere with what I'm doing with my hands.
So, it's crazy expensive...but you know what they say: you get what you pay for. Practically hydrophobic- I wore this trekking through rice terraces in China in practically torrential downpours and stayed dry. I live in Shanghai and we're currently experiencing our rainy season. I wear this to the market and out around town and it's stylish enough that you'd have no idea that it was so technical. Stuffs up tiny in my pack/suitcase, too. Great buy, if you can talk yourself into the price tag.
Arcteryx beta SL jacket is a fashionable and great design. It is thin and light enough for an unloaded hike. I am 5'5'' 55kg with size M is perfect. Performance of the waterproofing is also good. Love it so much.
"Love this lightweight waterproof jacket."
This jacket is perfect for those maybe it will rain, maybe it won't days. When I throw it in my pack, it takes up next to nothing for space, but if it starts to rain, the jacket provides full blown protection from rain and wind. The jacket has a very simple, clean line. The fabric is nice and soft and light. The hood provides good protection and is adjustable. The velcro sleeve adjustment is a nice touch. The Gore-tex packlite fabric does a good job handling rain and is nicely breatheable. There are no pit zips on this jacket. Overall, this is my go to jacket for unpredictable weather. I belong to a group called mountaintechs. I get to test outdoor clothing through this program.
