Having received this coat after winter has made its exit, I can not attest to its warmth factor yet. This review is for those who need info on sizing, since buying on-line can be such a challenge. I bought this coat in a medium, based on other comments. I am 5'8", 145 lbs. Size small/6 top, size medium/8 pants. The coat fits me pretty exactly. There is no give to the fabric, so don't count on any of that stretch-factor like some soft shells offer. The sleeves are nice and long. The hood is awesome as it can be adjusted to be very fitted without obstructing your view (don't want to get nailed in those crosswalks!). The quality of the coat is quite good. I am hoping for one last-minute cold snap to get at least some idea of how it will handle colder weather (but I'm content to wait until next year for that!).
I am am always cold and I wanted a jacket that would keep me warm without looking like a michelin man. After trying out a number of jackets, I finally found this one and it has met my expectations. It is warm, lightweight and flattering. Runs true to size - I got a size M and am 5'7'' at 135 pounds.I have already used it in bellow freezing dry conditions as well as snowy wet warmer weather and it worked great for both.
I bought this jacket for my wife, as she was facing the Minnesotan winter for the first time. She never complained again about the cold and used it from the harshest days until well into the spring. It's comfortable, stylish, and extremely warm, although it can be used in warmer days and not be an overkill.
"I bought this jacket in 2011 in black and I love it so much, I want a lighter color early Spring!"
I bought this jacket in 2011 in black and I love it so much, I want a lighter color for early Spring! It is extremely light weight and very warm. It doesn't make you look like a marshmallow. It has very slimming lines and is tapered in the back so you actually look like you have a wasteline. I get compliments on it all of the time. It is also great when it is raining. It is waterproof and the hood zips up over your chin so you can keep your head warm and dry, even in high wind. It also doesn't make you super hot when shopping or on days when it's not below zero. It adjust with your body temperature. I love this coat! Well worth the money.
I bought it for my wife . She wanted something that blocks out the winter wind of Chicago. She loves it. The coat is very light weight and it doesn't look like it would be warm. That was not the case. She stop wearing her thick wool coat and wants to get another Arteyx coat. My only complaint is the cost especially when it is not Gore-Tex.
