"Excellent day pack for hikes, climbs and summits"
This pack was an excellent upgrade for me. For the past 20 years I've been (happily) using a simple and rugged MEC pack for hauling my climbing gear to the crag. This BD Demon pack holds slightly more, but feels like I'm carrying about 1/3rd less weight! (I usually carry about 30-40 lbs of gear in it, but sometimes have carried as much as 50 lbs for as long as a couple of hours, and it has performed wonderfully). This pack's design is extremely well thought out - easy access, great design for strapping on a rope, simple streamline shape, durable fabric, great suspension, great size for day use. No complaints!
This is a great pack to take to the crag. I can fit my sport or trad rack in the puppy with extra room for snacks and water. It also has a really cool rope carry system that works well. I dont know if I would use this pack for much other than climbing though. It has a real simplistic design so it only has about 3 compartments. Its a tad bit too heavy to be used for ultralight backpakcing though.
I bought this pack over 2 years ago (so mine is a bit different style) and have loved it ever since. I bought this pack strictly for a nice day at the crags and it performs beautifully. I was amazed that i could get a full trad rack plus rope, plus food for the day into a 32 liter pack. It is very simple and VERY comfortable. I baby most of my stuff, but i have thrown this pack down the side of Pinnacle Peak, which is the sharpest most aweful, quartz infested rock ive ever climbed and it came off that mountain without a scratch. The biggest thing i would want to stress, is how comfortable and conforming this pack is.
great pack. standard BD quality, well thought out design. not alot of bells and whistles (read, tons of straps everywhere that you dont need) really clean lines. the zip-top load is really nice. for as light of a pack as it the suspension is really supportive. I carry a rope and a rack and normal daytrip stuff in it no problem. buy it,
