SPECIFICATIONS of the Black Diamond Momentum SA Harness
I use this for climbing indoors and it is my first harness. It is easy to put on and adjustments are simple. It has a comfortable fit on the thighs and when hanging around. I still use the original net bag to store it along with my other gear. Much easier to use compared to the rentals at the gym. Don't hesitate to buy one of these.
This was my first real harness, I have a small, im about 5'10'' and 135 pounds and this is very comfortable, even in hanging belays on multipitch. If you want a cheap, high quality do everything harness, this is the one for you. The biggest fall ive taken with this has been 30 feet and it was quite comfortable
"All you need in a harness for a good price"
There's a reason why everyone and their mom wears this harness - it has the best cost/value ratio of any on the market. The SA (speed adjust I believe?) tightening on the waistbelt is very nice - make sure you get it over the DS, as with the DS you have to double back each time you put it on. The SA system is super fast and easy, and gets you climbing quickly. The only thing I don't like is that the leg loops shift tightness over time while you climb, getting looser and moving around. It's not a huge deal though and is easily fixed. Pretty lightweight and bomber construction - you won't regret buying this harness.
"It's a great harness, especially considering the price range."
I chose this harness over the Petzl Sama because I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a first harness. The primary advantage of the Momentum SA over the Sama is the adjustable leg loops, and I think it is a more comfortable harness to wear, but that's subjective. Pros:Adjustable leg loopsComfortably padded waist bandAdequate gear loops for quick draws and carabinersCons:Waist can be a bit difficult to deal with, I usually have to take it out of the clip entirely to get it over my legs. Waist strap could be a bit bigger. Probably okay for people with slimmer legs. All things considered this is probably the best sub $60 dollar harness you can find. More than adequate for a beginner or intermediate sport climber.
I'm finally ready to write a review after using this harness for top roping and sport climbing for over a year. The Momentum SA harness is a fantastic value and holds up quite well. It is not the most comfortable harness I've used, but it is the best you can get at the prices point. It has held up to wear and tear very well and should continue to last me quite a while longer. There are ample gear loops for sport climbing and I haven't run into any issues with them breaking. The quick adjusts on the waist and legs work wonderfully as well. I definitely recommend it.
What else is there to say? Everyday, in the gym, in the wild, this harness delivers. It's comfortable, holds your gear, and most importantly, doesn't kill you. What else do you want? No, seriously, what else? Just buy this and start climbing already.
I love the fit of this harness, it is extremely comfortable. Even with me being a small framed person the harness fits me perfectly and I can't seem to feel any "hot spots" when wearing the harness. The harness does get pretty dirty fast, or rather shoes the dirt quickly. I like the quick adjustments on it that make it extremely easy to put on and take the harness off, although with how good this thing fits it is I can wear it almost all day without becoming to uncomfortable.
"For the money, you're not gonna get a better product"
I first climbed when I was a little kid, but then stopped. Just recently got way into it with a group of friends and didn't want to keep renting the harnesses they had at one of my college gyms. Friend already had this one and I tried it and thought it was way better than those rented ones, so I bought it, and I'm freakin amped about it haha.
My first own harness that I now tried out. Seems lightweigt and though it didn't have much padding yet comfortable. Have mainly used awful rented harnesses before so putting on a nice brand new one was all good. This seems to be one of the cheaper ones but really didn't see a reason for me to go more expensive. Easy to put on and liked the adjustable legloops, real quick fitting on them. looking forward with lots of climbing in this one.
"Cheap and light but still takes a beating."
This was my first harness i had bought as a package deal. Certaintly not my most comfortable harness i own but its really light, got enough places to put all my gear and is still kickin after a whole lot of rough climbing.
