I wanted a tough sole that would last and stick to my feet for hiking and festivals. The box is important because it has the instructions for fitting the Chacos. I read and made adjustments and actually practiced loosening and tightening them. You can really adjust them to fit your own weird feet. The toe loop is super, you don't even notice it, but you need to adjust a few times to get it to fit without losing circulation. The footbed is comfy and doesn't slip even when trail running through puddles. The unaweep sole is badass and I felt as comfortable as if I had hiking boots. There are no half sizes so size up to make sure your toes don't hang over the edge. There was enough front on the sandal to kick a soccer ball without losing a toenail. The color, "pebble" is a pretty blue that hides dirt well. My only challenge is that the part of the sole that cradles the heel is a bit tight. I think my feet are getting used to it and with some adjustments they will be fine.
"I love chacos. They pretty much sum up my life."
Chacos are the most amazing sandal ever. I have a little bit of problems with my feet and chacos are the perfect shoe to help correct the issue. I pretty much wear chacos every day during the summer and about every other day the rest of the year.Perfect for every outdoor occasion. They come in so many different colors and it's fun to pick one that matches your personality. One of the greatest thing about the sandals is that you adjust them to your foot , making it a perfect fit. Everyone has a different foot shape and chacos fit all of them! It might take a bit for a first time buyer to adjust the straps and get them to perfectly fit your foot but once you do it'll be great. I bought this particular pair for the tread. I really needed a heavier duty shoe for the outdoors then some of the more urban ones they make now. Everyone needs a pair of chacos so if you're on the fence get off and buy them already.
My Chacos are definitely my most versatile shoes. Great for casual wear, mild hikes (thanks, Vibram soles!), canoeing trips, etc. It takes awhile to adjust the straps, but once that's done, they're good to go. After about a year of having them, I decided to push the toe hole down (I wanted to wear them with socks) and after a few days of use, I couldn't feel the awkward toe hole bump anymore and could wear them with socks just fine.
I purchased these sandals last year after traveling to the mountains & seeing everyone wearing them! At first it was just a "I really want them because I want something different that no one has in my town" but Then it turned into something more than that! I really grew to love them & I wear them all the time! Very comfy & fits true to size!
I bought my Chacos seven years ago and have worn them so much and for such a variety of activities that they've been re-webbed and re-soled once and I'm sending them back to get re-soled again. My Chacos have been with me through all of my adventures of the past few years--camping, hiking, traveling--and I'm glad they can be given new life to keep adventuring with me!
The biggest problem with these shoes is the strap tan that comes from being out in sun too long wearing them. I have very high arches, and they provide great arch support. Super comfortable, easy to run in, and dry really fast. They are not uncomfortable when wet either. Be careful when tightening the straps though, because the toe loop will get tighter after you wear the shoes for a while. Other than that, buy these if you even remotely want to because they rock.
I buy at least one pair of these each year from the money i get working at my Uncles restaurant in Myrtle beach. I absolutely love these but if your the owners daughter of a rafting company they start to smell kinda funny after being in the river a few times!
Love these shoes, extremely comfortable, but I dont suggest hiking in them until you get used to them. I wore them on a five mile hike and got a few blisters on the bottom of my feet, but overall they are very good for hiking. I'm glad I got the toe strap because I like the way it looks and if you get tired of it, you can always tuck it under your foot.
I've had these for about a year now and can't believe I waited so long to get them. The price may seem a bit steep, but for the quality of the product, it's definitely worth it. Mine still look brand new after wearing them every day for an entire summer and have way better support and look way cooler than a pair of flip flops you buy from Old Navy!
