The Jade Harmony mat provides good grip. I feel really secure during practice, no sliding at all. Does it last? I practice at least 3 times a week and have been using this mat for 4 years now. It still looks good and works beautifully. Occasionally I would throw it in my washing machine (front loader) with a cup of vinegar and some baking soda to clean it (DO NOT USE SOAP!). Hands down the best mat I've ever owned.
I found this mat after looking for something that would put up with my sweatiness better than the Manduka. I liked the Manduka, but half way through class, my feet would be slipping all over the place. I got the equa towel which helped, but yoga is about simplicity, and I didn't like having extra things to deal with…#yogiproblems The Jade mat was a much better fit for me. I don't know how long they are 'supposed' to last, but after a year and a half of heavy use, its gotten pretty stretched out and thinner, but given how much I used it, I think it was a great value for the price.
I adore this mat! It does have a rubber smell when you first start using it, but I didn't find it over powering. The smell does go away after the first week of use, I promise. I use this mat five days a week. Please don't leave in the sun it will crumble for it is real rubber. To clean you can put it in the tub and air dry, but I would roll in a towel as well to get all the water out.You will get a lot out of this mat, and I would proudly recommed it to a friend!
