"Great hiking boot for the money hands down"
I am a professional firefighter of 20 yrs. I spend thousands of hours in my boots. As an avid outdoorsman and living in pure Michigan we get plenty of pure snow, sleet, rain, mud, and cold. I have worn a couple other brands in the past. I would rate this boot very high. It is light but with good support. Fits very nice maybe runs a little small so if your thinking your in between sizes make sure you order up. Nice traction for hiking. Most importantly to me it is waterproof and wearable all seasons. I have no problem even through 0 degree winter days and with a good pair of thermal socks keeping my feet perfectly warm! Would have no hesitation ordering another pair when these are put to rest. Thanks
I am not the sort of person to run out and buy a pair of boots without doing my homework and trying them on multiple times. I am a pretty avid backpacker and have been looking for a new pair of boots to replace my favorites after about 500 miles. I have a difficult time finding boots wide enough for my hobbit like feet but these are wide, light weight, and waterproof. After my first 50 mile section on the AT since buying these boots I am very pleased. They held up well and kept my feet warm, comfortable, and dry. I am now a big fan of Keen and Moosejaw has the best price.
"Not the best quality and runs 1/2 size small"
This Keen Targhee II Mid hiking shoe runs 1/2 size smaller. This is clearly stated on the Keen website but NOT on Moosejaw's website. That sure would have been good to know and eliminate my return. Keen shoe quality is suspect and surely the lace eyelet at the top would have failed in time.
I bought these boots for hiking at the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas. They are awesome! They were comfortable on my feet and I had no problems with slipping on the steep trails even in areas with loose gravel and sand.
These boots are awesome! They are very comfortable, spacious toe box, great ankle support, and especially for the price they are a great buy!Im on my second pair of these and I will continue to buy them in the future.
These boots are hands down one of my all time favorites. These boots are extremely comfortable, very supportive, they give great ancle support, and especially for the price these boots are well worth it!I am now on my second pair and will continue to buy them.
The last time I scaled a 14er was 34 years ago when I was much younger. This summer, I joined a group of guys to climb 14ers in Colorado. I spent a solid week looking online at reviews and all sorts of boots and hiking shoes was a bit overwhelmed by all the options. Finally, I made a short list of what was most important to me which included: waterproof (hate wet feet); had to support my ankles (sports injury from years ago); had to be comfortable as I was going to spend several hours on rocky terrain; and reasonably priced. I narrowed my list down to three shoes: Keen Targhee Mid II, North Face Havoc Mid STX/XCR and Pategonia Drifter AC Mid Waterproof. Ultimately, I settled on the Keen Targhee Mid II as it felt best on my foot walking around my home. The real test would be the mountains. Three days of hiking 14ers in rain, sleet, hail, sun and climbing bolders, navigating scree, water, mud proved the right choice. Light on my feet, no blisters and great grip on rocks.
