SPECIFICATIONS of the Kuhl Men's Liberator Convertible Pant
Love the light weight material, good looks, and the pockets and more pockets. Love wearing these for casual or hiking. Best of all, the conversion to shorts is easy with the zipper at the bottom rather than removing your boots first. They don't wrinkle and have belt loops. Thoroughly enjoy these pants with multiple uses without wrinkles. The soft rugged material does stretch a bit which is great, however, wearing a shirt underneath "tucked in" keeps the pants upright (rather than pulling them up often) most importantly with a pack on. I normally wear 36 but was forced to size up to 38 which worked out. Going to have to break down and get another color. They are my go to pants.
I've worn these pants backpacking and when I'm going up and down hills these pants stretch in all the right places. They also look nice enough that I wear these pants around town too. All in all these are really great pants. Also love all the pockets.
Great for hot days, since they breath well, dry fast and yes convert to shorts. Like most of these convertible shorts, the shorts hem is well above the knee. Me personally, for adventuring I prefer my shorts below the knee. A tough hem line to find when you're 6'2"...Whatever though, even without the zip off they're still decent pants.
Ermahgerd! I really enjoy these pockets for some reason really stretchy and not uncomfortable. Kuhl did an alright job reducing the awareness that you are wearing convertible pants. I can still tell but not like my last pair where it hurt and rubbed near the zippers. Overall I enjoyed them, yet the carbon color turned out really green. I don't know if that was just a shipping error or not, but green is a pretty chill color.
"Held up great on 8 day backpacking trip"
Wore these on a eight day backpacking trip in Utah and they held up great. Would recommend for backpacking and hiking but not for rock climbing. Pros: great fit, very comfortable, lightweight, moisture wicking, perfect for the desert, and priced cheaper at Moosejaw than other stores. Cons: Did get a couple of tiny abrasions and a tiny hole at the bottom of a pant leg from rock climbing. Also, the fly button could be a bit stronger (popped open a couple of times when I was moving heavy rocks for a tarp). Note that the color pictured for Khaki is different than the color received. They are actually a green but still look good.
"Stylish and Functional For All Active Pursuits"
The Kuhl Liberators have awesome material, fit true to size, look stylish, and perform well in hot environments as well as cooler situations. The Pockets are plentiful and can easily store annoyingly bulkish to me iphone, wallet, chap stick, keys, sunglasses, 5-6 granola bars. Converting is simple and easy and takes 1 minute or two depending on what type of shoes/boots you are wearing. They don't look dorky and I wear them to restaurants, overnight hiked once, slept in them a few times, kicked it around and did whatever in them.Awesome pants!
These pants are the best convertibles you'll ever own. The 'legs' are perfectly hidden and do not look cheap like many convertibles. This is partly due to the fabric of the pant which provides just the right amount of stretch. These pants are true to size and have held up well for almost 1 year! The only down side of the pant is that they are not abrasive resistant. I do have some signs of wear from abrasion. Otherwise, great pants!
I recently picked up a pair of Kuhl Liberator pants after reading some good reviews for them. First time out I took them for an 8 mile hike in the snow and mud. They held up wonderfully and were crazy comfortable. Like the other reviewer pointed out, the actual belt loops are great. I'll be picking up another pair of these sometime soon and you'll likely see me on the trails and around town in these.
In addition to being a points slave (I'm seriously 106 points from two new climbing harnesses, and thereby, unlimited adventure) I actually have something good to say about these pants, and Kuhl in general. While the pleats won't make you Ron Burgundy, the pants won't hurt your chances with the ladies, and they sure won't stand in the way of adventure. They're rugged, smart and -get this- actually come with regular belt loops, unlike almost every other type of convertible pants out there. That combination right there is enough to sufficiently rustle my jimmies. The only thing I can say underwhelmed me is Kuhl's notion of what "Khaki" means. The picture isn't lying, they're pretty close to slate green. I know, I made that color up. Even so, Kuhl has yet to disappoint me with anything they've made, and these trousers will serve well on the trail, fishing, riding or climbing....Or, kicking back with a brew and a skewer of fire cooked meat.
