This is the second pair I now have. Excellent approach shoe but also easily doubles for me as a day hiker. Grand Canyon Rim to River, all of Bear Mountain/Harriman State Park and miles and miles in Sedona covered in these. Comfortable and durable. They do run just a little narrow for some in the toe box but without that would be too sloppy as an approach shoe/for scrambling. However, I've experienced no issues once broken in a little. Go easy on the lace pull when tightening so as not to unduly stress the leather loops the laces run through.
These shoes are built like a tank. They aren't as heavy as I had imagined after reading the reviews about them online elsewhere. I wear a size 10.5 or 11 and ordered the 44.5... They fit perfectly. They are really comfortable on my foot. Yes, they are a little on the warm side because they don't breath very well being made of leather and rubber. I would recommend getting them if you are looking for a pair of approach shoes that can double as campus walking or just hanging out shoes.
I love deez shoes. Super comfy and also really grippy. Great for hiking and approaching the crag, but also great for just wearing. The rubber will wear out if you do use them for casual stuff as well, but they are so comfy that it's pretty worth it. Great shoes, look great.
I purchased these 3 years ago and have put them through the grinder: long East Coast trips, approaches through endless scree in the Sierra Crest, and even absurd Cascade approaches that include a glacier crossing. These shoes have not only survived those trips, but they are still going strong. The only thing that has worn out is some of the foam padding against my heel, which has been a fairly easy fix. They perform well on all sorts of terrain and rock. I've saved loads of time on steeper approaches that require some low-5th class climbing; the shoes feel secure on steep, easy(ish) climbing. While they may not be as light and sleek as other, more expensive offerings (e.g. the $250 Gandas from Sportiva) on the market, they have been tanks in terms of the abuse they have put up with. One note: wearing them 'around town' isn't the best of ideas if you want to save the sticky rubber for trips. The rubber is quite soft and will wear down faster if you add casual wear to the mix
Picked these bad boys up for what I thought was a very reasonable price. They hug the foot with the feel of a thousand monkeys, and the traction is second to none. I wear these things hiking, walking around campus, and while having a cocktail at my favorite watering hole, and they still beg for more. Highly recommended!
The Boulder X shoe is just what your looking for. Perfect for short/long walks. Easy to tie and fits just the size. I recommend to fit your shoe just the size, that way it will have better performance. The Vibram sole makes the shoe perfect in high friction, even over wet surfaces or slippery ones. It's really confortable wearing the shoe for long times. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!
This shoe is great for short day hikes, or scrambleing up steeps to get to the bottom of the crag. And once there I seem to not be the only one who caught word of how rad the BoulderX shoe is. The other thing is they give a shout out to the beautiful climbing town of boulder everytime they caress your feet. This is one of the awesome features. I have also been seen wearing these around town and they support my arches like a boot, yet are light weight and can honestly go anywhere. I usually don't want to take em off by the time I get to the wall. bomber shoe, as one would expect from La Sportiva.
broke them in doing everyday things and now i wear them outdoors and in the city. it's a great approach shoe that is stylish and comfortable enough to wear doing everyday things. not designed for anything too technical but suitable for easy routs if you don't feel like changing your shoes.
I purchased this shoe a few weeks ago and they have not let me down yet. I use them mostly as an everyday shoe however they do perform well on the trail. The lacing locks your foot tight to allow a precise fit. They run a little on the small side so I would suggest ordering a half size up unless you plan to use them for solely climbing where you may want a tighter fit. It has a nice aggressive sole that provides sure footedness on the trail and sticky yet durable rubber for the boulder fields. Overall I am very impressed with these shoes as I can use them on the trail, around town and at the crags.
