FEATURES of the Marmot Women's PreCip Full Zip Pant
I'm 5'8", about 140lbs, following the size chart I went with a medium. I couldn't pull these on, and had to unzip the sides to get them up. They're high-waisted and were very snug; surprising since I have a rather small waist. The fabric isn't soft like the stride jacket, but I did still like it. If the rise were lower I would have exchanged for a large
I love the full zip part of these pants, but I didn't like the way they fit through the hips and waist. I need rain pants to wear when climbing Kilimanjaro over lined tights, hiking pants, and fleece pants. The quality was nice, but when I tried them on over my layers, they were too snug through the hips and butt and I didn't like that the waist came up just below my navel. Not comfortable enough when I'm dealing with 4 waistbands during high level activity. (I got a large, usually wear size 12 pants. Length was good, XL probably would have been too big.) If you're slim in the hips, don't mind a higher elastic waistband, and/or don't plan to wear as many layers underneath, you'll probably like these a lot. Returned to try a different brand.
"Used these pants in a driving rain (almost snow) on top of Mt Katahdin Maine. Kept me warm."
The maiden voyage in these rain pants made me a believer. I just should have put them on quicker. So I was already pretty soaked when I put them on, but getting them on with the full zip feature was super easy. And no mud from my boots inside the pants while putting them on. Awesome! Once I had them on, I warmed up quick and at least I didn't get any wetter. Had to slide on my bum quite a bit on the descent and the pants didn't show any wear at all. Got home at bought a pair for my hubby. Total thumbs up!
