Tried on many a lightweight hiking boot before I settled on these. Super comfy right out of the box with no break-in required. The tongue is nicely padded so no annoying gouging at the ankle area. They are not heavy at all. I have worn them occasionally for about 6 months now. No issues with them being waterproof. Decent traction wet or dry. I normally wear a 10.5 wide. These were too short in that size for me so I went with the 11 wide and they fit perfectly. I have high arches and the stock insole is too flat so I replaced them with Superfeet green insoles. My arches thanked me. Not the boot for use with a heavy pack but for day hikes / yard work these are great. The ONLY complaint I have is that the laces will come untied in less time than it takes to write "Moosejaw" unless you double knot them. Must be the material the laces are made from. Not a big deal, can always swap them out if it bothers you too much. So there you have it. Good boot so far. Glad I bought 'em!
These are my goto hiking boots. Loyal, flexible, easy to wear, durable, stylish and don't wear out easily they're everything you wish your girlfriend could be. It's worth a try; you'll be glad you initiated a relationship with this one, trust me. Not sure when these will wear out, but when they do I know exactly which ones I'll be getting again.
"These are the best hiking boots I have owned in 25+ years....."
These are the best hiking boots I have owned in 25+ years from the North Cascades to Utah to the Front Range in Denver to Up North in Michigan Alps (both France & Germany) to the Middle East.Bought these this past spring and have nearly lived in them since....when I go to do anything outside (other than go to work office to painting the house)....I grab the Merrell Moad Boots I bought. Even took them to Boy Scout & Cub Scout Camps with both of my kids this summer, and all the other dads wanted to know where I got these boots....MJ, of course!
