The Moab Ventilator runs a bit narrow, but that is where the bad ends. Walked through water that came up over the toe, and it wicked right off. The shoes feels stable, does not slip, and is comfortable. What more could you want...
Very comfortable. Very durable. Waterproof. Nice earthy tones. Can use them hiking, running errands, or even to work if your boss says it's OK. Love them and super happy with my purchase. Had an old pair of Merrell''s that lasted 5 years and know that these will too.
I'm glad I read the previous reviews and purchased a half size up. The cushioning is adequate, but go up a full size to add more padding. I tested the shoe on this rainy weekend in NYC and they kept my feet dry. The shoe is comfortable and looks good. The laces are not long enough to make a proper double knot and opened on my walk. Overall a good rainy day shoe.
When I think of trail shoes, I think of a few things: about $100 give or take, waterproof, durable. These Moabs pass the first test (mine were $80) and were great with the other two aspects...at first. Not only is this review from me, but I am pretty much speaking for my friend who received a pair about a month before I did. The sizing and fit for my relatively normal to flat arch, wide toe box foot was great. Had enough cushion without being to constricting. Weight wasn't a big deal either, it felt as heavy as I thought they would from looking at them. When I began wearing them, the waterproof aspect and durability seemed great. Over time though, the shoes didn't hold up. With my friend having a pair before me, it was like I was looking into a crystal ball; I knew where my shoes were heading. Hoping he had a lemon and that mine would last was wishful thinking. Perhaps it was a dud or just an older model (2009), my info could very well be only for older models.
"These shoes can take you anywhere-Highly Recommended"
I have had these for nearly a year now and as a lite hiker they do not disappoint. Everyone's foot is different, but they hug mine in all of the right places and offer excellent support. Have used these hiking Grand Island in the UP, during week long scout camps, rainy games at Spartan Stadium and even shopping Black Friday at MJ! I normally wear a 10 but ended up buying half a size larger. Get em and enjoy!
I used these shoes for almost 2 and 1/2 years and they worked great. They did a great job as far as being waterproof, the traction was good, and they were comfortable. I feel like my feet stayed cooler in these than other water proof products ive tried. I should have replaced them sooner however because as they wore down the insole was super thin and I did have some trouble with blisters. All in all they are a solid product as I would expect from Merrell.
These shoes are so comfortable that I've been using them for daily wear. Great sole, waterproof, and durability for a pretty low cost. I'd never bought Merrells before but after having worn this shoe for the last couple years, I will definitely go for Merrells the next time I buy a pair. It's also a good shoe for day hikes, when you're not carrying a heavy pack. This is the best shoe I've found in years.
Got a pair about 2 years ago. Have worn them on about 50 miles of hiking on various terrain and they still have held up really well. Comfortable, great traction in mud, slippery rocks, and hold up against water really well. I'm a Merrell fan for life now.
These are great. Got them for Christmas a couple years ago. They are very comfortable. My favorite part is the waterproofing. I can stand in a little stream and as long as the water isn't going over the shoes, it's not getting in. They also still look like new. I can go through some pretty nasty conditions, and I'll walk through a stream or snow or whatever and they'll look like I just pulled them out of the box. I don't see them falling apart or anything soon, but if they do, I will get another pair.
"i don't wear low cut boots often, but when I do, I choose Merell Moab's"
I bought some Asolo Men's Fugitive GTX boots for mountaineering a while back, and as awesome as they are, when you're wearing shorts and hiking with your girlfriend on an easy trail, you don't want to look like an overdressed goober so I bought these. They're great, good arch support, perfect fit (I'm normally a size 10 but I bought an 11 as the 10 was a little tight). They hold up well to water too and don't leave my feet sore even on 10+ mile hikes. I'm only a casual user of these as I'm normally doing more technical hikes with my asolo's for the ankle support but I doubt my review would change even after more extended use of these.
Used these actually in winter... Did not get cold or anything and feet were completely dry wanted a boot that looked more like a shoe and i found the perfect pair... the Vibram soles are rugged and are a big plus! Awesome shoes
