I have hiked about 500 miles over the past year. I have tried Brooks, North Face, and various styles within each brand. I like the Mountain Masochist best. The soles are grippy, and they suport my feet much better than a standard trail runner when your pack is loaded up with a payload of 15 to 20 pounds or more. Plenty of room in the toe box is a plus!
Used these shoes while hiking trails. Very comfortable, easy to move in, and best of all...no blisters! Also was pleasantly surprised by how water and slip resistant they are. Jumping from one wet rock to the next was a breeze! I didn't fall once, which is quite an accomplishment for me.
