This water bottle is great. Although mine looks like it has been hit by a truck, it still works. I would definitely recommend the stainless steel opposed to the colored ones. I have a blue one and the paint started chipping immediately.
I love KK products. We have insulated and classic. This one is best because of the cool Moosejaw logo. Won't get confused with everyone else who carries a KK around. I like the stainless better than plastic as well. Great product and a must have in the cabinet.
Klean Kanteens are bomber and last forever. I've used one for years for day-to-day stuff and casual hikes. It's a good everyday bottle, compared to plastic bottles it doesn't give stuff a funny taste and it seems easier to rinse the taste of your last beverage out without going through a thorough wash. I do use a Nalgene when weight matters (climbing, backpacking). They are significantly lighter (a 48oz Nalgene weighs almost half what a 40oz Klean Kanteen does) and easier to stuff other things inside while packing due to wide mouth so it's not just taking up space when it's empty.
Drop it on cement and it dents, but that's obvious. Otherwise, this is exactly what you'd expect. The seal is tight if you twist it all the way. It's fun to sticker up. Buying new tops is pretty affordable (about $5 for most of them), but I do not suggest the Sport Cap (which is the top you can drink directly from like a traditional sports bottle). It has a loud bubbly gurgling sound every time you try to take a sip. No matter what I do I sound like I'm a newly un-beached whale guzzling in water. I attach this bottle to my pack and it doubles as a cooking container because it's good on my little gas flame thing-a-ma-jig.
I switched to an all Stainless Steel bottle when my plastic bottle froze solid while winter camping. Tossed this bottle in the fire with the cap removed and was able to melt the ice back to water. Bottle did great, no problems.
