The Mountain Hardwear Men's Plasmic Jacket is a lightweight rain shell for hiking. The Plasmic uses Dry.Q™ EVAP, a 2.5L, 100% nylon fabric that keeps rain out and wicks sweat. At only 10.2 ounces, the jacket doesn't need pit zips to remain breathable and when the sun comes out you can pack it away for the next rainy day. The attached hood is fully adjustable with a single pull and a brim for keeping drops out of your eyes. The zippered pockets secure compass and map and Velcro® closures at the sleeves wrap closely at the wrist for draft protection. Take that, rain!

SPECIFICATIONS of the Mountain Hardwear Men's Plasmic Jacket
I purchased the Plasmic Jacket to replace my men's North Face Resolve jacket. The first thing I noticed about the product was how light weight it is. It is much lighter than my previous jacket yet it is equally if not more functional. The geometric pattern on the inside of the jacket is very cool. The sizing of this Mountain Hardwear product was different than that of the Mountain Hardwear products that I already own. The fit is slightly looser than I expected but I do not recommend going a size lower. If you are looking for a nice outer layer to keep you dry this product will treat you well.
I got this jacket for a little bit of everything. I've used it for cycling, running, skiing/snowboarding and it has met all my expectations. It blocks the wind well and keeps me dry. I've been drizzled on by rain for hours while skiing and my core stayed dry. Not to mention the jacket looks great on and fits true. I am 5'10, 180lbs with an athletic build and the large fits super. Give this jacket a go. I give it 5 out 5.
OK, so I have a thing for jackets, as a lot of us probably do. I ordered this one, as well as a Patagonia Torrentshell from Moosejaw recently and really like them...I'm keeping both! This jacket is excellent...I have an older Mtn HW and have always gone to it for the rain. I can see and feel the difference in the "newer" technology of materials in this newer model, and I really don't miss the pit zips (does not have, compared to the Patagonia), as the jacket won't need it with the breathability anyway I think. I'm 5'11" and 170 lbs, and this jacket seems to fit pretty true to size.
After fishing around in the sea of light weight breathable jackets I finally decided to run with the Plasmic. I just returned from a 5 day windy, and damp trip in Bigs Sur, and I'm pleased to say the jacket exceeded my expectations. Not to mention the jacket looks great in shark.
