I bought this for my wife, who doesn't have a nice winter coat. The big advantage of this is that it is long. She's not a big fan of shorter coats, because when you reach for things they bunch up, whereas this will keep her much warmer. It's a nice looking coat, and while it's not as thick as I might have hoped, it should do the trick and keep her nice and warm.
"Great fit, warm, and quality coat. Didn't want to take it off!"
After I saw and tried on a friends coat, I had it order one for myself. Although I'm several inches taller than her, the fit was still great and I'm 5' 10". This will certainly work well to wear to work, the gym and to cold fall football games. After the awfully cold winter this year in Wisconsin, I'll be ready for next season. Love Mountain Hardwear! I'm sure this will be my go-to coat for years to come.
This winter has been incredibly cold in the Ohio Valley. I walk a mile to and from work for my full time job in the city. We have seen sub-zero temps since Thanksgiving and an extremely large amount of snow in comparison to our recent winters and I have to say, this coat has come through for me. I love it. I love how it fits, I love the detail on the shoulders. I love the hood. I love how warm it keeps me, even with or without layers underneath. I never feel like it's binding. The only thing is, don't wash the faux fur and put it in the dryer. It will melt. This is one of those coats that you want to get 2 of for when you outwear the first one.
I don't know yet if this is super warm (I haven't had it that long and it's been blissfully warm so far in 2014 in NM), but I know it's super comfortable. The hood fits perfectly so that when I zip up the neck and pull up the hood, it's going to stay there. It fits true to size and there's enough room in the shoulders to move freely. I'm not tall (okay, I'm almost short), and the coat length and sleeve length both work well for me. I feel cuddled and enveloped but not overwhelmed or as if I can't move because there's so much coat. I want to feel warm but I don't want a bulky or stiff coat, and this one is great. The lining is soft, too.
The only reason I didn't give it a "love it" is because I haven't tested the coat in sub-20 degree temps yet. It's super stylish, offers enough shape it ensure I won't be mistaken for a snow structure, and has all the features I was looking for: removable cute hood that is deep enough to stay on, fleece lined on top half, lined pockets, perfect length (long enough to cover unmentionables, short enough to look "kicky" and not dowdy. I am 5'8" 136lbs and the medium is perfect. To the touch, it appears very light. I have to wonder about whether there's enough down in there, but I've worn it out when it's been in the 30's and have felt more than toasty. I like the high neck/chin protection and believe Mountain Hardware puts its money where its mouth is by providing consistently high quality garments so wish me luck when the temp dips. I suspect all will be fine and dandy.
