The Patagonia Footwear Men's Drifter A/C Shoe is a lightweight hiker for moving smooth and fast over your favorite trails. The Drifter A/C has been constructed with a breathable air-mesh and durable nubuck leather upper, combining strength with breathability that will hold up against the trails while keeping your feet cool. The bellows tongue prevents trail debris from finding it's way inside and wedging itself under your toes, so you can walk with ease. No more shaking your foot every few feet to knock that rock loose. The Patagonia® Air Cushion Plus midsole and heel with Bi-Fit™ insole board combine for cushion, support, and stability. The Vibram® Trail Ecostep® outsole not only grips terrain like a champ for traction throughout the day, but also has 30% recycled rubber. Every little bit helps.

goretex + vibram + patagonia = this durable, unique and unstoppable shoe! when the world ends this is the shoe you want. its a hiker sneaker so it is not the most attractive shoe but its function overcomes its form by a long shot.
Have a pair of these and used them on various packed trails and challenging mountain trails. I had it down to these and two other shoes, but went with the Drifter because I did not feel any slippage or movement of my feet. The shoe is stable and support the foot well but is still fairly breathable and dries quickly. The tread and lugs are aggressive and help when going over rocks and boulders and slicker rock. Even on wet/muddy trails the tread stays pretty free of accumulating gunk that could compromise your footing. Overall it's a solid and comfortable shoe on all but the most demanding terrain.
These took awhile to "break in", as out of the box they are stiff, uncomfortable and the laces kept coming undone! After a few hikes in my local park, I totally love these shoes! They have a very nubby, aggressive tread, great solid construction and a good quality sole. They end up as comfy as your old go to sneakers, but look a whole lot better. The price seem just right as compared to quality. I have owned these for awhile now and take them everywhere!! In very rough terrain just make sure you have strong ankles as there is no support for them in these shoes. They grip very well on rock and mudd, even in light snow. I wouldn't trade these for any other pair!
