"Baggies are tough, durable, stylish, and all around the best shorts you will own."
The best shorts for hiking ever. I hike, run, go to school, swim, and do whatever in these shorts. They are perfection. I own two pair. I wear a 36 waist, and when I first got my baggies I thought the larges were too big. I washed them one time, and machine dried them and they fit like a glove. Baggies are the best shorts I own as of right now. Just last week I was being towed behind a truck in an old truck bed with my redneck friends. Let's just say I got thrown out of the "sled" wearing my baggies. I thought they were done. The were scuffed up really bad. I threw them in the washer and all the grass stains and mud stains came out. Believe it or not. These things are tough as nails. Baggies work for me. Plus, they get the ladies.
I so very badly wanted these shorts to fit me, but it's not their problem, it's my skinny chicken thigh's fault. I tried getting the smallest size available. To me, they are generous in cut and billow around my thighs. Excellent attention to detail though and I really like the mesh lining! They are classified as, "underwear," so, as such, they are not elegible for returns. I couldn't make them work for me, so I gave them to my chubbier brother. He loves them. Maybe, when I start gaining weight, I'll steal them back.
5 inch Baggies are a great pair of trunks! They fit true to size and provide enough room for movement, whether it be swimming, running, or just walking around. Not constricting! With two deep hand pockets and one rear pocket (with snap closure) you won't have to carry your keys/wallet/phone/global positioning system/etc in your hands. Drawstring waist keeps 'em on tight when you need to dive into the water. Simplicity and durability. I have owned several pairs for several years, and am glad to add another pair to the collection.
I used to work as an outdoor guide and these shorts were my staple uniform. I did everything in them and they last for ever! Just bought some more pairs from Moosejaw -- difficult to find these shorts here in Australia. I almost died when Patagonia stopped making this 5" version and only offered the 7". The 5" come to mid thigh on me and for swimming, running, cycling, canoeing, sailing, track hiking and sport training this shorter length is ideal. I even wear these shorts now to touch football. My oldest pair is now 15 years old -- and they have had it, but I can't bear to throw them out even though my wife begs me to do so. They are torn, covered in the scars of adventure and now flecks of paint having been retired to my weekend chore shorts. Thanks Patagonia -- never, ever, ever stop making these shorts.
I love these so much. Theyre made with strong fabric but still lightweight. The liner is incredible and I feel so free when wearing these. Free as a bird now. Theyre wonderful and you need to buy a pair or two. Better go with three. Theyre water proof too and I love the snap on the back pocket. Wont wear out like velcro. Keep em coming patagonia!
"A great multi-purpose short for everyday use!"
The Patagonia mens baggies have durability to last a lifetime and I great feel to them. The 5inch inseam seemed a little longer than other 5inch inseams. This is not a negative however because it makes them more wearable around town. They resist water brilliantly and the mesh inner liner is nonrestrictive and functional. All around great short. Highly Reccomend.
"If you absolutely MUST have pants on, Baggies are the only way to go. Ever."
I love my Baggies. Patagonia isn't currently making the 5" but in my opinion they are more comfortable than the 7". They have enough pockets to be useful as regular every day shorts, the front pockets are deep and go all the way down the front of the shorts and the back pocket is perfect for a wallet and closes with a button. They are perfect for anything: working out, swimming, lounging, whatever! I'll be living in these all summer!
