"Looks great, fits well, have a sizing tip for customers purchasing (read below)"
Ok, I tried on probably a dozen vests similar to this one, including Patagonia's synthetic nano puff vest & The North Face thermoball synthetic, and I chose this over those because of the fit.I'm 6' 2", 42" chest, 34" waist, ~ 200 lbs and I went with the XL. If you're in my height range (6' and relatively in shape) you will probably fluctuate between L and XL jackets & vests. Trust me with this one and get the XL. It doesn't look too big and it gives just a bit of room to fit over long sleeve shirt, etc. The large, on the other hand, will be a tight fit and look a little ridiculous when zipped. If you're 6' 1" / 6' 2" and 165 / 170 lbs, maybe try the large. If you wear a 34" waist and are 6' 2" and 185+, go with the XL.
Thought about buying a vest, wasn't sure how I felt about them. No sleeves? Warm? That doesn't sound right. I purchased this after returning the Adze Vest and was very impressed. I got it in grey and it looks fantastic. Great warmth for days where I don't want to wear long sleeves but a t-shirt isn't warm enough. Also fantastic when I need to layer for the coldest days (for Texas). Great vest and it looks great too. However, I have noticed that it has become an essential accessory for anyone who wants to be a Frat Daddy. However, Patagonia always makes quality gear and this is no exception.
At first I bought the Adze vest in a large. At 5' 11" 165 it was a little bit too big, decided to grab this one instead in a medium and it fits PERFECTLY. Great for days when it's a tad chilly and I don't want long sleeves, and still keeps me warm if I layer it on the coldest days (at least in Texas). Overall it's a great fit and a great looking jacket. Definitely recommend.
Ordered this as an xmas gift for my father in law. Unfortunately, it came the day after christmas :( I guess the shipping took longer since it was Patagonia. However, its really good looking in the blue and the material is a nice change from the standard fleece vest. We're keeping it and will give it to him for his birthday.
If you know any thing about being a frat star then this the vest for you believe me.This vest will keep you warm and staying frat, throw a long sleeve tee under it or a polo or a button down and you'll be turning heads where ever you go.This vest just too nice
"Perfect Vest for the Urban Adventurer (who makes it to the mountains a fair amount)"
The only reason I didn't give this vest a "love it" is because of warmth. Maybe next time I wear it though, I'll try it with a shirt underneath.Seriously though, if you don't like attention, don't purchase this vest. I have never received more compliments on a new article of clothing. I live in Dallas, therefore I do quite a bit of urban adventuring and whenever I have this vest on, it gets noticed in a good way. Going to a bar? No need for a conversation starter because this vest already started one for you. Going hunting? The ducks, the deer and the wild boar want to take a closer look. I just purchased this vest last month and have yet to make it to the mountains, but I'm confident it will work magic up there as well. It's extremely comfortable and has a good, athletic fit. I would recommend this vest (urbanist green) to anyone, even if they don't want one.I'm very satisfied with my purchase.(proudly wearing vests since '07)
