My fiance bought these pants but wasn't all that impressed. He gave them a fair shot but they didn't get any better. They were too tight up in "there." So now I wear them. They obviously weren't meant for a woman so I won't knock them for the loose fit in the legs. The belt is pretty neat, easy to tighten during the day. Pockets are handy and easy to access (although only one back pocket was strange). Overall, these pants are so-so.
Bought this because I needed a lightweight pant for hiking through brush. Ticks are bad and so is poison oak. I read reports on the interwebs that Patagonia changed the fit of these pants to some sort of tight hipster sizing that had loyal customers up in arms. I don't see it. At all. I wear a size 32 x 30 normally and the medium short fits perfectly. They are no where near slim or tight and have a great deal of room to move around it without looking to billowy. Whoever is complaining about it really should write down their current physical stats along with the size so the rest of us can make educated purchases. The fit probably didn't change, your waistline probably did. One thing of note, the "el cap" khaki listed here is actually a shade or two lighter than the picture makes it out to be.
"Perfect except for one minor imperfection"
I have 7 pairs of the Gi-III shorts and they are absolutely perfect. These pants/shorts are nearly perfect except for one MINOR imperfection in that when unzipping the legs while wearing them, the zipper will occasionally get tangled with the flap that covers it but just back the zipper up or hold the flap up and it works fine.
I purchased these in Forge Grey after my son wore out his first pair in the Mark Twain National Forest area cataloging flora. He said they were incredibly comfortable, lightweight, and when he lost weight from working so hard, they still fit. The Forge Grey also looks great on him. It was easier to order, as no waist size was needed, either. I chatted with Foxxy Cleopatra who helped me find several shirts that work with all the Patagonia items I purchased.
Bought these for my son, who really needed new outfits at Christmas. They fit perfectly, wash well, and really look great on him! He can fit lots of stuff in the pockets without looking silly, too! He climbs in them and, said they are very durable, comfortable, breathable..so I am very happy!
Real nice and comfy. Wish the front pockets were a little bit bigger, but maybe that will keep me from overloading 'em. Overall good pant. I wear a 32 waist normally and ordered the medium, fit like a good-fitting glove.
Got these for backpacking, laying around, and other strenuous duties - they are totally great and comfy. And thanks to Robert and Jeremy (previous reviewers) I was able to order the correct size the first time. I am a 33 waist and the large fits perfect. SO...my advice would be to bump up one size from your normal and you should be there. Thanks Moosejaw!
Love the product, the sizing is off though. I own 3 other pairs of Patagonias, all sized like this (S, M, L) and they are all mediums, so I ordered these in a medium regular. Waist and inseam are small, will return for a L because, again, I love the pants.
I apparently made two mistakes 1. I ordered Large as all my pants are that size; these missed the waist by about 4 inches? Based by the size of these I'm not sure that XL would fit. 2. I thought that I ordered Long but I guess that I missed the correct button. Other than that I think that these are great pants as was the service. Unfortunately I am returning them and will wait until I can try a pair on to be sure they fit. Thanks,Bob
