The Men's Stand-Up Short 5 Inch Inseam by Patagonia are made from rugged 10 oz organic cotton to thwart climbing's abusive tendencies. The hardworking canvas softens and personalizes with age. for the Patagonia Men's Stand-Up Short 5 Inch Inseam
These are the alpha and omega of shorts. Tough enough for yardwork, nice enough for Easter Sunday, comfortable enough for lounging, and flexible enough for climbing. I have never seen a short with this much versatility. Throw away every other pair of shorts you own (except maybe some patagonia baggies) and buy these. You won't regret it.
Got them for hiking, use them for everything. My favorite tennis short, can fit a whole can of balls in a pocket. Comfortable for canoeing or kayaking, but do take a while to dry out. Older ones find their way to yardwork - last forever. Sizes run big. My wife thinks I buy them because it's the only way I can wear a 34.
these shorts are amazing. you may ask yourself, should i go with the 5 inch or the 7 inch? go with the 5's! i wear them all the time! just make sure your boxers arent too long or they will stick out the bottoms. i would tell any of my friends that they should get these shorts
Worn while backpacking in the Cascades; canoeing in N. Idaho, and dining with the in-laws in Seattle; these shorts can take it all and come out looking as good as I do (OK, better than I do). The material is strong wash after wash, it doesn't break down from extended uses and washes and looks great after a run through the dryer or air drying. I prefer the shorter inseam for greater range of motion while scrambling or getting in our out of the boat.
Honestly the greatest shorts on this planet. Doesn't really matter what you do, if you do it in these shorts you'll probably be better at it. The older they get, the more comfortable and better looking they get. Extremely durable, unless you dip, in which case you'll get some pretty significant fraying on your ass. Might be a little short for some folks over six foot, but a little summer sun on the nethers never hurt anyone.
