"collar design and stitching needs major renovation"
This vest is comfortable and fits well except for an oversized, poorly designed and poorly stitched collar. Instead of zipping up snug to your neck, it pooches out and twists sideways. Patagonia, you almost got it right but because of the terrible fit at the neck, I'm sending it back.
I have the nano puff jacket, and love it. I have the down vest, and love it. So I thought I'd love this vest. But the fit is a bit weird (at least on me). The armholes have elastic edges so the bunch up and also cause the front chest to bulk. It's not as pliable or soft as my other items. It may be the stitching as this has squares and my jacket is the old diamond design and my vest horizontal. Or it may just be the way this is made. Or maybe just me. But I don't love it as I expected to. But it's decent.
I love everything about this vest! It's great for chilly weather, stuffs into it's own pocket (great for traveling!) and weighs nearly nothing. I purchased the small and it fits just as I expected it to and the Catlan Coral is brighter than pictured, but I'm not scared of vibrant colors. I would not consider this vest for cold weather unless layered with other items, but it's perfect for early fall/spring temperatures when hiking weather is chilly, but not frigid. As with most Patagonia items, I would highly recommend this vest.
