"The dogs kick them off no matter how much we tighten them"
These shoes appear to be well made and have a great Vibram sole but they don't seem to stay on the paw very well. We measured our dogs paws, followed the sizing guide, and ordered the appropriate size according to manufacture's chart. We have two, twenty pound Corgi/Sheltie/Pom mix dogs who are VERY active. When we first put these on they immediately started "bucking" until they successfully kicked the shoes off. Then we put them on more snugly and distracted them by throwing a toy and they were able to play fetch for about 5 minutes until one of them got a shoe off then they both had all of them off with in 10 minutes of running back and forth in the house. The other, more bothersome, problem is the when one of our dogs went to turn around, the shoe flipped over and he twisted his paw :-( Not good. Sadly, I don't think we will be able to get much use out of these. If have calm dogs, they may work for you.
"Followed the measuring instructions and they still fall off."
We bought a pair of these to protects our dogs' feet when hiking. The Vibrum soles feel substantial and the mesh upper feels like the upper on a regular sneaker. We have two Corgi/Sheltie mix dogs which weight about 20lbs and have paws that measure 2 inches across so we ordered the XXS (per the company's sizing chart). We put a pair on each dog's front paws and fastened the Velcro as tight as possible then let the dogs run around the house. Within 5 min, Jack had both the shoes off and Teddy had them off within 10 minutes of running around. Neither dog "pulled" them off, they just came off while they were running. We may try purchasing the socks that are designed to go under the shoe but according to reviews on other websites, those don't seem to help much. Bottom line, this product is a great idea poorly executed.
