Have had this knife as my mane carry in my pocket, except at school. I have the flash II and used it extensively but it is huge. I would poll it out and folks would be like, wow Rambo. This is a lot more managible, and just as handy, sharp, quick open and sturdy.
Bought this for the size, deep carry, and assisted open function.Pros: assisted opening works well, making Left or Right handed opening easy with the thumbstuds. -Safety works. -Lock is nicely implemented. Deep carry clip conceals well. Cons: Thumbstud came unscrewed and fell off blade. Clip bent out of shape during use. Clip retention is poor, many a time have I found the knife open and stuck in something I was occupying, like a tree. unacceptable blade play. Handle felt cheap for the price point. Blade was only sharpened in a chisel grind. Blade steel unknown; come on SOG. Tip broke off.Bottom line: an okay knife that functions well, but I found the Kershaw OD-2 to be a more affordable, superior alternative. Ended up relegating this knife to use as an expensive prybar.
The knife is a little smaller than I expected and feels a little weird holding it because of being so small. However, its a nice knife and I recommend if you are looking for something smaller to stow away in your pack.
Its a good sharp knife, but seems to be a little small. Construction is solid and it is very light weight. SOG should make a knife that is in between the Flash 1 and Flash 2. The handle is too small, which make the finger grooves pointless. I went ahead and bought the Flash 2.
