I was introduced to Salomon sneakers about 5 years ago and now they are all I wear. They make them in a plethora of styles for any purpose (running, hiking, cross training, snow boots, lighweight/heavyweight) and are the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned. I own about 13 pairs and I can honestly say there has only been ONE pair that didn't fit my foot appropriately. Salomon also makes a great clothing line if interested. I bought a fantastic pair of workout pants and matching jacket.
The Speedcross 3 just might be the most comfortable hiking/walking/trailing shoes I've ever owned! I had my old pair for 2 years, and they've been with me not only on a daily basis but also for 2 trips to Costa Rica, and 1 to Antigua. I've hiked up volcanoes, climbed down to the base of waterfalls, trailed through rainforests, horseback rode, and even played Lacrosse in them. I wear them everyday during Lacrosse season (coaching), and I've never had a problem with my legs aching. I have "bad knees", yet these are comfortable all day. This new pair is just as comfortable as the old!
I'm mostly concerned with support and comfort for trail running shoes, but I also love the color options of these shoes. I actually spent more time deciding what color I wanted than on the shoe themselves. I have flat feet, and I feel like they give me the arch support I need without inserts. The traction is great and the treads give you a slight "bouncy" feel while running. They're very breathable and my feet haven't felt uncomfortably sweaty yet! At first I was against the laces, but I love them now. They're so much easier to adjust than regular laces.
This shoes are very comfortable. Work great on the trail. They do run a little big. I typically wear a 9 and a half in running shoes. I got a 9 in these and could probably go down to an 8 and a half. Definitely waterproof.
